Swiss regulator approves blood safety system from Cerus

Swissmedic granted approval to Cerus' Intercept blood system, which inactivates viruses, bacteria and other blood-borne pathogens in blood components used for transfusion. The company said the approval allows Intercept-treated platelets to be stored for a week.
