Kaiser Permanente expands teledermatology program

Kaiser Permanente is expanding a pilot teledermatology program to all Kaiser clinics. Patients' primary care doctors can use a dermatoscope to photograph rashes and lesions, then send the photo electronically to a dermatologist for recommendations. The program has improved access to specialists for those patients most in need, says Dr. Eileen Crowley, chief of dermatology for Kaiser's Napa-Solano region in California.
