Study: HIEs do better than ED docs in listing patient meds

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association showed that patient medication lists provided to doctors through health information exchanges are more accurate than those offered by emergency department clinicians. Researchers found that HIEs identify 42% more medications prescribed to patients than the charts available in emergency departments.
