Fla. teachers cover fewer concepts under revamped math curriculum

Educators in Florida are changing the way they teach math, with plans to cover fewer topics and give students more time to understand each concept. The change is part of a statewide curriculum revamp. Seventh-graders, for example, will learn 25 math concepts this year instead of 89. Under the change, teachers also will review less material already taught in previous grades. Teachers also will incorporate more hands-on activities into math lessons.
