Neptune Wind eyes offshore project bigger than Cape Wind

Neptune Wind is planning to develop a wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island that would use less turbines but generate more power than Cape Wind Associates' Cape Wind project in the Nantucket Sound, said Neptune Wind CEO Chuck Digate. Neptune Wind's Nomans Wind project would include 80 to 100 turbines and generate 500 megawatts of power, while Cape Wind would have 130 turbines and 468 megawatts of power, Digate said. Neptune Wind could get a federal lease by the end of 2012 or early 2013, Digate added.
