Mass. turns to precast to streamline work on bridge repairs

The use of precast concrete deck bulb T-beams for the Manhan River Bridge project is a first in western Massachusetts as the state looks to streamline work on bridge upgrades. The project is part of Massachusetts' $3 billion Accelerated Bridge Program. Work on a similar bridge using traditional methods can take two years to complete, but precast allows repairs to take take less than six months.
