Wash. senator takes to the stump to push for farm bill

Sen. Maria Cantwell, D.-Wash., spoke out last week to urge Congress to pass the farm bill before a Sept. 30 deadline, after which policies would revert to those set in 1949. Failure to pass the bill would threaten the economic stability of Washington state's $46 billion agriculture industry, which relies heavily on exports to Asia, she said at a press conference.
