Woolworths to add new channels with EziBuy acquisition

Australian retail giant Woolworths will acquire New Zealand-based EziBuy Holdings, a multi-channel women's wear and home goods retailer, in a deal valued at $275 million. EziBuy, which started in 1978 as a catalog retailer, now does about 68% of its sales in Australia, and the deal is expected to help Woolworths ramp up its direct selling efforts via catalogs and the Internet.
