Apple took another step to enhance its mapping platform by purchasing Embark, a navigation-software company, Apple announced Thursday while providing few details about the transaction. The iPhone-maker came under fire a year ago after it dropped Google's mapping software even after users reported finding errors in Apple's own maps service. Apple has purchased two other mapping-related companies this year.
