The retirement wave of the baby boomer generation is a concern for the tech industry because legacy skill sets will be lost. The scenario has companies investigating ways to keep older workers on board, even if only on a part-time basis, says Matthew Ripaldi of Modis. The first step, Ripaldi says, is devising a plan to retain talent while providing workers with flexibility. "The thing about technologists is they love what they do," he said. "They're constantly driven by newer technologies. So that means that they want to stay involved somehow. They just may not want to stay involved full time."
