Japan OKs reimbursement coverage for Edwards' heart valve

The Central Social Insurance Medical Council in Japan has granted Edwards Lifesciences reimbursement coverage for its Sapien XT system, which is said to be the first transcatheter aortic heart implant to be released in that country. The reimbursement is expected to take effect Oct. 1, and would cover the cost of the device and other hospital fees.
