Maine paver's bid is withdrawn over inability to post required bond

The lowest bidder on a Mount Desert, Maine, street-paving project withdrew its bid after failing to post a performance bond equal to 100% of the bid amount, town officials said. The company had done no prior work for the town, which is why the bond was required. The second-lowest bidder was subsequently awarded the paving contract.
