Making mouse skin cells into baby mice

Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan have developed a technique for taking skin cells from mice and turning them into primordial germ cells, which can become egg and sperm cells when implanted in female mouse ovaries or male mouse testes. The laboratory now has a grant to study the process in monkeys, but any human applications remain years away.
