Data on 6,500 7-year-olds in the U.K. showed that 50% were sedentary for more than six hours each day, and only 51% met the recommended hour of daily exercise. Fewer girls achieved the recommended physical activity goals than boys. The study, published in the journal BMJ Open, also revealed that children of Indian origin, as well as those living in Northern Ireland, were among the least active groups.
