Study: Asians have fewer diabetes complications

A Canadian study found that diabetes patients of Asian descent experienced a lower risk of complications from the disease, including coronary artery disease, stroke and lower-limb amputation, than those of European descent. Understanding the underlying factors that help protect Asians "may help develop new strategies to reduce the risk of diabetes complications in the overall population," researchers wrote in Diabetes Care.
