Wellness services can help launch palliative program

It can be difficult to get physician and patient buy-in when starting a palliative care program. One approach is to hire a certified cancer exercise specialist who focuses on quality of life and helps people return to normal activities, writes John Hennessy, a vice president at Sarah Cannon. While that approach wasn't labeled palliative care, it improved the lives of patients with metastatic cancer and "at the end of the day, that's palliative care," Hennessy writes.
