Experts share views about using texting technology for data exchange

The idea of using text messaging to share health data has elicited mixed views from industry experts. "Mobile technology offers the opportunity to leapfrog other technologies that have come across roadblocks. One opportunity is interoperability and the ability to communicate across devices, carriers and systems," said mHealth Initiative's president. Meanwhile, an official from the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity said, "for most hospitals, it just seems like a big security risk."
