Study: NKT cells might help prevent organ rejection

Researchers in Portugal have found that there is in mice a population of natural killer T-cells that possess a gene that can influence regulatory T-cells -- the cells that suppress immune response. "Using these new cells we might achieve organ acceptance in liver transplants, without touching the remaining immune system," a researcher said.
