Malware attacks on Android devices increase 76%

Android devices are now the favorite among malware developers, according to U.S. computer security firm McAfee, which measured a 76% jump in attacks on the mobile platform in the second quarter compared with the first. Android passed Nokia's Symbian as the most-attacked mobile operating system. "This year we have seen record breaking numbers of malware, especially on mobile devices, where the uptick is in direct correlation to popularity," said Vincent Weafer, McAfee Labs' senior vice president.
