Parkland hospital launches new patient safety plan

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas has outlined a plan to hire more nurses, have appropriate physicians on-call, enforce infection-control policies and issue new emergency department policies in response to a government report that criticized its patient safety record. The hospital said its new safety plan also will include employee performance audits and an initiative to stop the theft of drugs.
