An aging workforce of skilled tradespeople and a decline in the number of construction jobs during the recession has led to worker shortages in some areas of the U.S., which contributes to construction delays, increased wages and a crimp in the recovery of the housing market, according to Bloomberg. Some pros have turned to starting their own training programs.
