Multifaceted approach helps diabetes patients lose weight

Adopting a multidisciplinary weight-loss method helped patients who were obese and had diabetes attain improvements in body mass at four years, with 48% achieving lasting weight loss and biomarker improvements. The Weight Achievement and Intensive Treatment program includes intensive diabetes care, a tailored exercise program, a structured diet approach, cognitive behavioral support and education. The results were presented at the American Association of Diabetes Educators meeting.
