Do CFOs need to be CPAs?

The number of CFOs who are also certified accountants is on the rise, and some companies now require the designation for their financial leaders, Cindy Kraft writes. While not every CPA is cut out for the CFO role, those with management skills "will always be high value targets," she writes. For hopeful executives, the decision whether to pursue their certification should be based on the needs and preferences of their potential employers, she suggests.
