Consumers want laundry detergents that extend the life of clothes

Sales of specialized laundry detergents, stain removers, and pretreaters increased 7% between 2008 and 2010, according to market researcher Mintel. The increase comes as consumers look to make clothes last longer rather than buy new ones. "Consumers want to take charge in the laundry room and fix the problem themselves," said Nancy Bock of the American Cleaning Institute.
