Styx guitarist draws on engineering background

An early aptitude for math and an education in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology have proved surprisingly useful for Styx guitarist James Young in helping with the band's stagecraft. But Young is quick to note the deeper importance of a knowledge of engineering. "The world is becoming more technologically complex, and young people need a way to see through the clutter to what's important. If you had told us back in the '60s about what would exist today, we might not have believed it."
