Topeka, Kan., school district wellness plan holds down costs

About 99% of insured staff in Topeka unified school district 501 participate in the employee wellness program, which is credited with helping insurance premiums stay flat for three years in a row. Data show district claims have remained level while employee use of hospital emergency room services has dropped 13% and use of preventive care has increased.
