Universal broadband in Vt. is close at hand, regulators say

The Vermont Telecommunications Authority reports that it is closer to fulfilling Gov. Peter Shumlin's plan to bring universal broadband service to nearly all of the state by the end of 2013. FairPoint Communications recently received a grant of $295,750, while Southern Vermont Cable got $135,804 to provide broadband service to more businesses and residences.
