Professor develops robot as online language tutor

Pasadena City College adjunct Professor Ron Chang Lee is a finalist for the Loebner Prize for Artificial Intelligence, after creating a robot that can assist English language learners. The robot can interact with students in one-on-one conversation typed online whenever it is convenient for them. It also will correct their language usage, but Lee says students are spared the embarrassment they might feel asking a teacher a question.
