American restaurateurs say time off say time off hard to come by

While European restaurateurs are known to take weeks off, Americans find it difficult to take Sundays off, let alone a week or more. Every small-business owner has difficulty managing a vacation, but small restaurants are even more pressed to keep operations continuing because Americans view their favorite restaurants as an extension of their homes, says John F. Foley, restaurant adviser for Allbusiness.com.
