Editorial: Regulatory reform will stifle innovation

Despite being a central part of the Obama administration's financial-regulatory proposal, creating a Consumer Financial Protection Agency is the wrong approach, the Los Angeles Daily News argues in an editorial. The level of unprecedented control in the proposal "would undermine incentives for innovation and customer choice, and would certainly diminish lenders' efforts to respond to demands from consumers for certain products and services and ultimately limit the types and amounts of credit available to qualified borrowers," the newspaper said.
