Demand for EHRs to increase gradually, analyst says

There will be a gradual increase in demand for software as a result of incentives that would be given by Medicare and Medicaid for electronic health record system implementation "because some portion of the market will want to wait to see the final rules" on meaningful use of EHRs, said investment analyst Raymond Falci. He said most group practice administrators and hospital CIOs are starting to ramp up their plans for adopting an EHR system in order to be eligible for maximum incentives in 2011.
