Microsoft's Allen sues Google, Apple, Facebook and others

Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against 11 technology companies, including Facebook, Google, eBay and Apple. The claims reference four patents for technology created by Allen's Interval Research, which shut its doors about 10 years ago. Critics linked the filings to a wave of "patent trolls" seeking to squeeze money out of tech companies through licensing fees.
