Thermo Fisher gets EU approval for $3.5B Phadia acquisition

Thermo Fisher Scientific's purchase of Phadia, a maker of blood tests in Sweden, for $3.5 billion has received the green light from the European Commission. The transaction, which offers Thermo Fisher a broader footprint in specialty diagnostics, "would not raise competition concerns," the Commission said in a release.
