A new application called the Emergency Department Discharge Tool is being developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to improve care quality, lessen care costs and reduce patients' unnecessary visits to the emergency department. The app is set to be piloted in three EDs of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to examine its effectiveness in screening the health records of adult patients to determine individuals who frequently use ED services.
