Test being piloted for new teachers is similar to NBPTS process

Nineteen states will try out a type of prelicensing exam for teachers that is similar to aspects of the application process for National Board Certification. In participating states, teaching candidates will undergo performance-based tests before receiving teaching licenses. The so-called "capstone teaching event" will require prospective teachers to plan a lesson, adjust that lesson to classroom challenges and videotape the lesson for review.
