Union votes at Delta seen as industry bellwether

Expected unionization votes this fall at Delta Air Lines could reverberate throughout the industry, according to experts. Many Delta workers say they plan to vote against the union measure, and the airline notes that its non-union employees already make more money per hour than their unionized colleagues at Northwest Airlines. Analyst Vaughn Cordle points out that nearly two-thirds of all airline labor contracts will come open for negotiation in the next two years, adding to inflationary pressures across the industry.
