Cable puts pressure on telecoms in broadband market

Seventy-five percent of new Internet service subscribers opted for cable companies over their telecommunications competitors during the past quarter, which has touched off a price-cutting campaign by the telecoms. "Phone companies can't just sit back and let cable companies take that much of the broadband market, or they will eventually cede everything," said UBS analyst John Hodulik.
