Merger chiefs take the stand to defend consolidation

CEOs from Continental Airlines and United Airlines took the witness stand Tuesday in a lawsuit by consumers who want to block a proposed merger between the carriers. United's Glenn Tilton told the court that the industry has experienced "serial bankruptcies," and that only one network carrier -- Continental -- has exhibited growth over the past decade.
