Survey finds many bank customers opt in to overdraft programs

A survey by the American Bankers Association found that 46% of bank customers who responded said they have or will opt in to the overdraft program offered by their banks. Those respondents said they are willing to pay for the service, which ensures approval of debit card transactions even when an account is overdrawn. "These results show that many bank customers value debit card overdraft protection and are willing to pay for the service," said Nessa Feddis, vice president and retail banking expert at ATA.
