Vilsack expresses confidence that RFS2 will stay in place

The ethanol blender's tax credit and the tariff on imported ethanol are facing elimination by Congress, but the Renewable Fuel Standard is expected to remain in place and help expand the ethanol market, according to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. "I think what will stay is the renewable-fuels standard, which basically is the market for the country to meet a 36 billion-gallon threshold by 2022. ... It's important for us to set a goal; it's important for us to diversify our energy needs; it's important for us to reduce our reliance on foreign oil; and it's important for us to create jobs," Vilsack said.
