SSgA says SWFs likely to become more passive with investments

State Street Global Advisors said sovereign-wealth funds would likely try to diversify by taking up index investment and making fewer direct or strategic investments. SWFs make up the fastest-growing class of institutional investors as they manage $3 trillion globally. The rapid growth of assets will result in SWFs' strategic equity investments reaching capacity constraints. Therefore, the funds are expected to diversify and follow the lead of traditional institutional investors regarding risk and return.
