Private labels perform well in taste tests

In blind taste tests conducted by Consumer Reports, consumers preferred three private-label foods over their national-brand counterparts, said 19 tasted just as good, and preferred national brands in six comparisons. "Our tests should erase any lingering doubts that store-brand packaged goods aren't at least worth a try," an editor with Consumer Reports said.
