Small businesses shed jobs for a third straight month

A recent NFIB survey indicates that in August small businesses lost an average of 0.08 workers per firm over the last three months. The poll also found that 5% of small-business owners say they plan to hire in the next three months, which provides a glimmer of hope for the future employment outlook, said NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg.
