Pediatricians update recommendations for protecting kids against flu

All children aged 6 months and older should receive either the trivalent flu vaccine or the quadrivalent flu vaccine at the first opportunity, the American Academy of Pediatrics said on Monday, adding that neither vaccine is better than the other. Antiviral drugs Tamiflu and Relenza can be used to treat children with chronic diseases who get the flu or those hospitalized with the flu or severe flu symptoms, according to the group's policy statement in the journal Pediatrics.
