Health groups outline ideas for better stroke care in U.S.

The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association issued a statement on improving stroke care in the U.S., calling for better public education about stroke symptoms, quick assessment of patients after hospital arrival, implementation of transfer protocols among hospitals that have different levels of care, support for stroke center certification and use of telemedicine to assess patients in rural areas. The report is published online and will be included in the October issue of Stroke.
