Transit grant program could benefit affordable housing

Changes to the Federal Transit Administration's New Starts grant program will provide financial incentive for communities to locate affordable housing near transit hubs. The guidelines are seen as possible solutions to the traditional affordable-housing obstacles of "not in my backyard" opposition and gentrification, writes Jeffrey Lubell, director of housing initiatives at Abt Associates.
