World Bank partners with Gambian regulators to support IFRS implementation

The World Bank and Gambian regulators held a training workshop in August to prepare banks and accounting professionals for the country's adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards, required to be instituted by banks by December 2013. The nation hopes to attract investment by strengthening accounting and auditing capacities. The president of the Gambia Association of Accountants, Amadou Sanneh, said they welcomed the training.
