Telehealth brings value and a need for support, reimbursement guidelines

Telemedicine projects have benefited patients in 10 communities that received funding from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The projects targeted primarily poorer residents of rural areas and focused on HIT related to clinical health care, public health, health-related education and remote health administration remotely. AHRQ found that 24/7 technical support and guidelines for telehealth reimbursement will be needed to sustain telemedicine efforts.
