Many people with hypertension are unaware of their condition

An analysis of data on 154,000 adults from 17 countries showed that more than half of people with high blood pressure were not aware of their condition, and only 32.5% of those who knew they had hypertension were effectively treating their illness. The findings suggest the need for improvement in the diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure worldwide, researchers said. The study appeared in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
