Self-healing spikes proposed as economical option for nanosatellites

Nanosatellites -- satellites a few inches in length -- currently use costly needles to expel the fluid that maneuvers them in orbit. But ferrofluids that form self-healing spikes when exposed to magnets could be a more economical replacement, according to researchers at Michigan Technological University.
